Sight & Hearing
One of the primary missions of Lions Club International is the preservation of sight and hearing. The Fulton Lions Club provides assistance with eye exams, glasses and hearing aids.
The Fulton club works primarily with the Fulton Walmart Vision Center and D&B Optometry, which is co-located at Walmart. As needed, we work with other providers such as Fulton Vision Works.
Hearing Aid Assistance is provided through the Finger Lakes Region Lions Hearing Foundation (FLRLHF). FLRLHF works locally with Oviatt Hearing and Balance, located in Oswego. The Foundation provides re-conditioned behind the ear hearing aids which are fitted by Oviatt. The Fulton Lions Club reimburses Oviatt for their services.
In order to qualify for assistance, you must fill out the attached application for assistance. Assistance is based upon financial need. Insurance must be utilized first. After the application is completed and forwarded, a Lions Club representative will contact you for a phone interview to determine eligibility for services.
The Fulton Lions Club collects used eyeglasses at various locations in the community, including, but not limited to, Walmart Vision Center, Vision Works, and Fulton Medicine Place. Walmart, by agreement with Lions Club International, forwards all collected eyeglasses on to a central processing center. These glasses are eventually utilized in the developing world.
