Sight & Hearing
One of the primary missions of Lions Club International is the preservation of sight. The Fulton Lions Club provides assistance with eye exams and eyeglasses.
Our club works primarily with Fulton Vision Works and other providers as needed. In order to qualify for eyeglass assistance, you must fill out the attached application for assistance. Assistance is based upon financial need. Insurance must be utilized first. After the application is completed and forwarded, a Lions Club representative will contact you for a phone interview to determine eligibility for services.
We also provide hearing aid assistance through the Finger Lakes Region Lions Hearing Foundation (FLRLHF). The Foundation provides re-conditioned behind the ear hearing aids which are fitted by a local hearing aid provider. Assistance is based on financial need. The Fulton Lions Club collects used eyeglasses at various locations in the community, including the Fulton Medicine Place and Vision Works. These eyeglasses are sorted and forwarded to a central processing center where they are catalogued to be utilized in the developing world.
